Cold Rolled Sheet Metal Properties

When a steel section is cold formed from flat sheet or strip the yield strength and to a lesser extent the ultimate strength are increased as a result of this cold working particularly in the bends of the section.

Ds type b. This finish helps to maintain effective lubrication during metal forming and improves the appearance of painted surfaces. The rolls induce plastic deformation. Additionally non standard finishes are available.

Cs type b. As an example a hot rolled steel product may have a yield strength of 235 mpa. Surface finish cold rolled steels are manufactured with a matte finish obtained by rolling with specially roughened rolls on the cold mill and the temper mill. To meet the various end use requirements cold rolled sheet products are metallurgically designed to provide specific attributes such as high formability deep drawability high strength high dent resistance good magnetic properties enamelability and paintability.

Cold rolled 1008 1010 steel physical properties. When steel is formed by press braking or cold rolled forming there is a change in the mechanical properties of the material by virtue of the cold working of the metal.
